Paktia Panthers were the best non-champion side of 2018 on league form, finishing second with five wins from eight matches. Shahid Afridi captained the side. Their season ended in the semi-final, bowled out for 102 by Kabul Zwanan.
Five wins, three defeats, 10 points and a net run rate of +0.144 put the Panthers second on the table, behind only the eventual champions. They opened the tournament by posting 218 for 4 against Kabul Zwanan and still losing, as Zwanan chased it with three wickets in hand. Their best batting night came on 10 October, when they posted 204 for 4 against Balkh Legends and won by 37 runs — one of only two defeats the champions suffered all season.
The batting and bowling awards both sat in the Panthers' dressing room: Mohammad Shahzad made 344 runs, the most in the tournament, and Isuru Udana took 17 wickets, the most by any bowler. Neither could save the semi-final on 20 October, when Panthers were bowled out for 102 in 14.5 overs and lost to Kabul Zwanan by 90 runs. Second in the league, out before the final. The 2026 Paktia franchise starts again with Rahmanullah Gurbaz as captain, and with none of these numbers on its own row.
